Proper Kickboxing Front Kick - Tanya
From Blue Wave Martial Arts and Fitness this is Tanya demonstrating proper front kick technique. A front kick is done from the back leg generally. Pick your knee up, extend your leg out, pull it back, and step down each time. Even though you do it with the back leg, it's called a front kick because you're kicking to the front. Now a good piece of the front kick that a lot of people neglect is the knee up portion. You'll notice Tanya's got her knee up nice and high, she's extending her leg out without dropping her knee, and she's pulling that foot all the way back. Now let's drop that foot back and nice long extension on that front kick, stepping back each time. You'll notice she has her hands up in a good guard as she would in a kickboxing class or a sparring program and those kicks are using a lot of power from the hips and the legs and she's got a good balance with that other foot firmly on the floor.
