Proper Overhead Triceps Extensions - Maria
From Blue Wave Martial Arts and Fitness, this is Maria demonstrating Proper Overhead Triceps Extensions.To get in position, she starts with her arm overhead, her elbow pointed directly to the ceiling and she's going to fully reach back and extend that tricep, pushing your arm all the way straight towards the ceiling each time. When she does these, she wants to try to keep her arm close to her head with her bicep almost touching her ear, keeping the elbow perfectly still. Often when people do this exercise they let their elbow point out away at a slight angle, which is easier for the shoulder and it's easier if you have shoulder injuries to do it this way but not as effective in working the triceps. Try to keep your elbow pointed straight up and try to keep your arm close to your head. You'll see when Maria turns facing the other way that each time the dumbbell comes down it touches right between her shoulder blades. This is a great exercise to isolate the triceps.
