Proper Kickboxing Roundhouse Kick - Tanya
From Blue Wave Martial Arts and Fitness, this is Tanya demonstrating Proper Roundhouse Kick technique. Roundhouse kicks, also called round kicks, are done by extending the leg planar level with the thigh. She's isolating the lower leg part of the kick so you see as she extends she's holding her knee really still. Putting the motions together with the step down, and kicking from the ground, she's going to bring that roundhouse kick around. Kick somewhere between waist high and head high when you're practicing on a bag. Tanya is kicking with the in-step of her foot, she's pointing her toes and hitting with that nice flat surface along the top of her foot where her shoe laces are. She's flexing her ankle back, nice and tight, and she's kicking with the ball of her foot pretty much in the same place she was kicking before with her in-step, but now she's using a much smaller surface area delivering more force per square inch.
